Asian NGOs urge donors to act. Dams on Mekong being planned
Civil society groups in Thailand, Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and China have in a letter to Nordic and other donors raised alarm about renewed plans to build six large dams on the lower mainstream of the Mekong river.
They fault the Mekong River Commission for remaining silent about the potential impacts of these projects, and urge donors to reconsider their support to the riparian organisation.
