Renewable energy strategy for Laos, Cambodia

Finland plans to provide support for a renewable energy strategy for Laos, and possibly also Cambodia. The project, which will focus on a range of “soft" energy options is expected to be tendered towards the end of this year.

In the first half of this year, the Danish consultancy firm COWI has been awarded four separate contracts by Danida worth a total of about DKK 40 million. Three of these are in the business support sector in Tanzania, where the Danish government is investing heavily this year.

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) announces a tender for an evaluation of its support to legal education in Laos and Vietnam. This in fact will involve two separate reports, one for each country.

The Finnish Foreign Ministry will evaluate its support to development research. During 1998-2007, EUR 57.5 million have been spent on some 350 different projects.
