Sweden launches untied mixed credit scheme, punishes UNDP

The Swedish government has launched aa new private sector scheme for untied soft loans and subsidised guarantees in its aid budget for next year.

Among the UN agencies, Sweden punishes the UN Development Programme (UNDP). Sweden continues to prioritise Africa in its bilateral aid.

The budget for 2009 in many ways represents a consolidation of the Centre-Right majority government’s fundamental policy change in Swedish aid.
