The Finnish government’s budget for 2010 marks a rise of EUR 50 million in total ODA to EUR 966 million in total. This is equal to a level of 0.55 per cent of next year’s estimated GNI.

Finnish NGOs are bitterly disappointed that only EUR 4 million of this increase will be spent on aid to developing countries, an amount that is significantly lower than the government had indicated earlier this year.

Tanzania: Norway dumps auditor who revealed massive corruption

Norway has reduced its refund claims to a fraction of the original estimate of USD 30 million in misused aid from a natural resources programme in Tanzania. The Danish auditor who investigated the programme questions why the amount is being so drastically reduced. The Norwegians have kept him out of the process.
