GAVI unfreezes payments. Key criticism remains unanswered
Last December, following a critical study published in The Lancet suggesting that GAVI had overpaid countries for child immunisation by USD 140 million, GAVI froze its payment scheme. (See DT 20/08)
Now GAVI has decided to resume payments. The study’s authors say their key finding - that the GAVI payment system contributes to inflated vaccine numbers - remains unaddressed.
