Sacrifices indigenous people’s rights in UN forest, climate negotiations

Norway does not mention indigenous people’s rights in its latest submission to the UN on how a mechanism for reducing carbon emissions from deforestation (REDD) can be incorporated into the international climate regime.

The Oslo-based NGO Rainforest Foundation says the government’s position violates Norway’s international legal obligations, and calls the move a “tactical error".
