Ghost platforms. Benin wants Norway to clean up oil mess
Norway may finance a study on how to remove abandoned oil installations off the coast of Benin run by a Norwegian oil company in the 1980s. The rusting platforms are a threat to the environment.
Benin’s request comes ten years after Norway refused to finance a similar World Bank project to clean up the oil field.
