Norconsult strengthens position in Africa
The Norwegian engineer consulting firm is opening a new office in South Africa, the company’s third in the southern African region. The other two offices are in Maputo and Gaborone.
“We see significant potential for Norconsult to participate in regional development,” says Ola Norderhaug who is responsible for the company’s international investments.
The South Africa office will be led by Tore Horvei, a Norwegian national who has lived in South Africa for the past 15 years. He has previously held positions of Director of SAD-ELEC and Operational Director of CIC Energy Corp.
According to a press release, Norconsult will focus initially on providing advice in the fields of energy production, transmission and distribution to private and public customers in the energy sector. Eventually, the firm plans to build up local competence within transport, water and enviromental management.
Norconsult starts out with three associated partners working out of the Johannesburg office. It plans to expand the staff to 70 through planned acquisitions in South Africa, and by hiring local talent.
