ORGUT wins Palestinian water and sanitation contract
The Swedish development consulting firm ORGUT has in consortium with Finnish Consulting Group (FCG) has been awarded a USD 5 million contract for the implementation of the Emergency Capacity Building Project to the Palestinian Water Authority: Technical, Planning and Advisory Team in the Water and Sanitation Sector (2011-2014).
The project is funded by the World Bank, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and Agence Française de Développement. The procurement process was carried out by the Palestinian authority.
This marks ORGUT’s first Palestinian assignment, although the consortium partner FCG has previous experience from Palestine.
The purpose contract is to provide technical assistance and capacity building to assist the Palestinian Water Authority in the implementation of water sector reform, ans well as development and implementation of policies, strategies, regulations, and master plans for the water sector and its various sub-sectors.
Five other companies/consortia were short-listed by the PWAS for this contract: Niras International Consulting AB of Sweden, Hydroplan Ingenieure GmbH of Germany, Norplan AS of Norway, Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI) of the United States and Sachsen Wasser GmbH of Germany.
ORGUT has recently been awarded another contract in Palestine with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland to carry out a mid-term review and programme identification of the Finnish-Palestinian cooperation in the water sector. The work was scheduled to begin in mid-November.
