Second phase in water sector aid to Niger

Denmark announces a tender for the second phase of its support for a water, hygiene and sanitation sector support programme, so-called Paseha, in Niger during the period 2012-2016.

The programme has two components: the first is “Water Supply and Integrated Water Resources Management”, comprising the rehabilitation and construction of water points in the regions of Zinder and Diffa, as well as support for further institutional reforms. This component comes under the responsibility of Ministry of Water and Environment. The objective of this effort is to improve access to safe drinking water for almost 300,000 in the two regions.

The second component is “Promotion of Hygiene and Sanitation”, which aims to increase the coverage of household, public, and school latrines. It is expected that the realisation of basic sanitation facilities will benefit about 500,000 people. Technical monitoring will be conducted by the Ministry of Public Health.

The deadline for submitting tenders is December 19, 2011
