NGO report documents EU donors’ broken aid promises

A report by the European NGO Aidwatch concludes that EU member states have fallen far behind their aid targets. Last year they spent EUR 15 billion less than their collective commitment.

Moreover, 10 per cent of the money spent in 2010 was “inflated aid”; funds reported as aid but used for debt cancellation, student costs and refugee costs in donor countries.
