Soul searching at the World Bank about how to finance response to the next pandemic

During the covid pandemic, the World Bank, bound by its country-based model, was unable to put its considerable financial weight behind pooled procurement of vaccines for lower-income countries. Now, the bank is doing some soul searching about how it could make “day zero” financing available at the start of the next pandemic.
