US forces climate NGOs to register as ‘foreign agents,’ targets recipients of Norwegian aid

The largest American environmental NGO, the National Wildlife Federation (NWF), is operating as “a foreign agent,” promoting Norway’s climate policies in the United States, according to the US Department of Justice. This represents a dramatic change in the way the foreign agent law is applied. US NGOs working on climate issues with foreign funding now fear for their independence.
