Bold investment by Norfund supports expansion of Kenyan solar home system retailer

Business March 22, 2021 / By: Bjørn H Amland

A USD 15 million loan from Norway’s DFI Norfund aims to help the Kenyan solar home system retailer d.light finance its continued growth. Through the loan, which is used to acquire the company’s accounts receivable, Norfund hopes to prove that the “perception of risk” in the African small-scale solar power market is much too high and to coax commercial banks to enter the fray.
