Finland’s global toolbox is almost empty, critics say

The Finnish government continues to cut aid. In the budget proposal for 2026, core development efforts take the hardest hit, and much of what’s left is tied up in commitments to the World Bank, the European Union and other long-term agreements. Except for Ukraine, there is little flexible money to finance new challenges.
