Domestic threats to the golden standard in global aid

For more than a decade, Sweden and Norway have set the global bar in aid by dedicating 1 per cent of GNI to development assistance. But there are growing calls for deep cuts. Though the parliaments in Stockholm and Oslo managed to keep aid for 2021 at the same level as last year, right-wing parties continue to push for cuts and some conservatives are following suit.
